Stewartsville received 1.12″ of new rain in the past 24 hours. Sections of E PA received MUCH more in some case 3-5″ and had bad flash flooding.

Today will not be as rainy as yesterday. The afternoon will be the wet time and we should stay mostly dry this morning with some breaks of sun.

5 Day NWS Forecast

After today, believe it or not Wednesday and Thursday look dry but hot. In fact we may get close to having another heat wave Wednesday-Friday. Right now the weekend looks more dry than wet so hopefully it will continue to look that way!

Several location in western New Jersey including Stewartsville heard the thunder and saw the lightning late this morning. That was unexpected so early in the day! This is an indication how much potential energy is in the atmosphere today!

The Storm Prediction Center agrees and has issues a Tornado Watch just to our south.

This is in effect until 11 pm tonight. I would not be surprised if this was extended a little further north but we’ll see. If not I expect a severe thunderstorm watch further north.

What this means is there is strong potential for heavy rain, strong gusty winds, lightning from late this afternoon until around midnight or so. The best chances for severe weather for western New Jersey appears to be from 5 pm – 9 pm.

I will post more information as it becomes available.

Folks in western New Jersey were treated to a light show last evening from the approaching thunderstorms that slowly moved into the area from eastern PA. They took there time but did arrive and gave part of the area over 1″ of rain. Stewartsville received 1.10″ of new needed rainfall. Parts of eastern PA receive 3″ of rain while other areas of western NJ didn’t receive quite as much.

Summertime heat and humidity are here this week. Tuesday-Thursday will be the hottest weather so far with summer with highs in the mid 90’s we humidity to boot. There could be some scattered thunderstorms around today with a greater chance Thursday as another front approaches.
