NWS 5 day forecast

Western New Jersey finally felt some above normal temperatures late yesterday afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 60’s. Today we will take it a step further with June like warmth with highs in the upper 70’s to near 80! Look for this to continue into Saturday as well.

Make sure you take advantage of the nice weather today or tomorrow becasue Sunday will be shockingly different. A “back door” cold front will come through Saturday evening/night and drop the high temperature on Sunday to the low 50’s! This will be accompanied by some showers that could arrive as early as Saturday late evening.

Then a good round of rain looks possible later Sunday into Monday morning. Cool weather peaks on Tuesday with high temperatures in the upper 40’s – there could even be some scattered wet snow flakes in some spots.

We slowly return to what should be normal for this time of year with high temperatures around 60 the second half of next week.

NWS 5 day forecast

Even though it won’t feel like it today or tomorrow the spring “light at the end of the tunnel” is finally a glow. Monday will feature increasing clouds as our next system approaches. We will only have high temperatures today in the mid to perhaps upper 40’s. Light rain showers could move in this evening. Overnight these may changeover to light snow which could leave a coating on colder surfaces by tomorrow morning. Tuesday we may see the showers turn to rain but should be over by midday.

Wednesday will start our slow warming trend with near normal temperatures. Slight chance of showers on Thursday but we finally get above normal with highs in the 60’s. This looks to continue into the weekend with perhaps a cool down by Sunday with some showers or perhaps our first spring thundershower.

Still not feeling like spring!

NWS 5 day forecast

Everyone in western New Jersey woke up to some light snow falling. It’s only accumulating on colder surfaces and thankfully not the roads. This is a sight folks in western New Jersey have become too familiar with this Spring!

Ironically today will be one of the warmer days for a while. Today’s light snow is a result of a warm front moving through the area. Later this afternoon we should have high temperatures in the upper 50’s.

But don’t get too used to it. A cold front will come thru early Saturday morning which will bring cooler air for the weekend. Believe it or not this is a good thing. This push of colder air is going to steer another snow storm to our south. Only southern New Jersey and point south should see any significant accumulations from this next system. We could all see some light snow or rain showers, primarily in the morning. Remainder of the weekend will be on the cool side.

More cold air for Monday and Tuesday along with our next, dare I say last chance of snow or mixed precipitation for Tuesday. Then after that the pattern finally looks to relax and allow some warmer and more seasonable weather to arrive in our area by late week or next weekend!
