More Severe Thunderstorm Possible on Wednesday
With another warm up today and tomorrow comes the possibility of more severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center has issued and slight risk of severe thunderstorms tomorrow for all of western New Jersey. This is similar to what happened last Saturday. the timing right now looks from 3 pm – 8 pm. There could also be some showers in the morning tomorrow.

Showers and thunderstorms approaching from the SW
As seen in the above radar, showers and thundershowers are approaching from PA. The cells are moving from SW to NE. There is a severe thunderstorm watch for Berks county in PA which is near Reading. There are two severe thunderstorm warnings indicated in the yellow above.
Keep an eye to the sky for the remainder of the afternoon and early evening
Slight risk of severe thunderstorms possible on Tuesday
Keep an eye to the sky on Tuesday. Any thunderstorms that do form in western New Jersey have the potential to be slightly more severe than normal
SPC has upgraded the slight risk to include all of northern NJ and even some of central NJ.
Western New Jersey is in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms later today
We’ll have another hot and humid mid July weather day on Monday. Look for showers and possibly some thunderstorms arriving from the north and west after 3 pm today.
Precipitation forecast for western New Jersey thru Thursday
Any areas lucky enough to see rain today should not pick up more that 1/2″ Most areas will only see 1/4″ or less. Northern and western New Jersey is under a moderate drought to we need all that we get!
As you can see in the above map, Most of PA and a good part of western New Jersey have the potential for severe thunderstorms later today into the evening and tonight.
We are well below normal on rainfall as seen above. We need between 5-6″ of rain just to get us back to normal. Let’s just hope it all doesn’t come at once!
So how much rain can we get? Quite a bit if you believe the map above. These amounts are for the next 1-3 days total ending Wednesday morning. We are in the brightest red which is 3-4″ of rain.
