Stewartsville February 8, 2021

A cold morning in Stewartsville, NJ this Monday morning with temperatures in the lower teens.

Monday morning low temperatures

There were some areas in the upper single digits to the north. Clear skies overnight along with fresh snow and light winds caused the cold Monday morning.

NWS snow forecast for Tuesday

Enjoy the cold sunshine on Monday becasue another fast moving system will impact our area before sun-up on Tuesday. This will be a similar event to last Friday where we picked up a coating to 2″. My forecast is for a coating to 3″. The coating will be in southern areas and the 3″ to the north. The graphic above from the NWS shows this potential nicely.

Thursday forecast

Then another day of sunshine on Wednesday before another larger system impacts our area starting very late Wednesday or early THursday morning. This system will be multiple waves of low pressure that will move along just to our south and last until Friday morning. These waves will result in more snow than Tuesday but it should not be terrible. Early thoughts are 2-4 or 3-6.

Sat-Sun forecast

Our parade of storms continues with another fast moving system late Saturday lasting into early Sunday morning.

Don’t put the snow shovel away yet as another system could impact our area in the timeframe of next Wednesday. Temperatures looks to remain well below normal throughout this timeframe.

7 Day NWS forecast for western New Jersey

Hopefully, everyone is enjoying President’s Day and a shortened work/school week. Today will wind up being the pick of the week with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 40’s with light winds.

Tuesday will feature clouds and periods of light rain. Right now it doesn’t look like too much rain which is a welcome relief for our area the way things have been going lately.

After the rain, we get another cold snap Thursday into Friday but it will not be as cold as the last one. Look for morning temperatures in the teen Friday morning and low 20’s Thursday and Saturday.

The cold air retreats as quickly as it has all winter and we look to have a pleasant upcoming weekend with high temperatures in the mid to upper 40’s.

Early March temperature outlook

Looking long-range some cold air may try and sneak back into the northeast the first week of March. The big questions now are where and how cold. Right now it looks to remain to the north of us and not be terribly cold. This may be Winter’s last gasp – we’ll see…

19. December 2016 · Comments Off on Calmer Pattern Ahead · Categories: weather discussion, winter · Tags: ,

We are entering a calmer pattern compared to recent. I expect this to last for the remainder of the year for the most part.

Look for much colder weather today with a slight moderation tomorrow. Wednesday, the first official day of Winter, will start a return to more seasonable temperatures with highs in the low 40’s.

The next chance of precipitation looks to be some rain or wet snow showers on Thursday. Then after that not until Christmas night. So travel and shopping weather looks to cooperate for the most part.

So as of right now it looks like we will have a green instead of a white Christmas this year.
