Freeze Warning Saturday night into Sunday morning

This was not a surprise to me given how cold this air mass is. Hopefully the last one of the cold weather season! It’s generally OK to plan the day after Mother’s Day in this part of the country. I see no other widespread cold weather outbreaks that should impact growing weather. Come thursday we should have highs back in the 60’s with even some 70’s possible on Friday.

Same rules apply as last night: bring in any sensitive plants if you can or cover them up. Turn off your outside water supply lines.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and breezy (but not windy) with high temperatures in the low 60’s.

7Day

The cold front moved through western New Jersey yesterday with some strong winds and a sharp drop in temperature. Stewartsville only recorded 0.08″ of rain but there was a 44 mph wind gust and a steep temperature drop when the front passed.

Today and tomorrow will be noted for unseasonably cold, windy and even a passing rain or wet snow shower (today only). In fact the NWS has issued a Freeze Warning for tonight and a Freeze Watch for tomorrow night. What does this mean? If you jumped the gun a little and planted sensitive plants outdoors, either bring them in tonight or cover them up. Generally it’s not safe to plant until May 10th in western New Jersey area.

The weekend looks better but we will be watching a storm system to our south hopefully stay there.
