NWS 5 day forecast

Stewartsville received nearly 1″ of rain in the past 24 hours. I could hear the rain falling at times last night while sleeping.

Unfortunately more of the same is in store this week. While it won’t be raining the whole entire time, we will be receiving more rain.

If you’re not a fan of the cool weather we received over the weekend, things will be warming up. The unseasonably cool 50’s we felt on Sunday will be replaced with 60’s today. Upper 70’s to near 80 will be in store Tuesday and beyond.

Hurricane Florence 5 day NHC forecast

As forecast, hurricane Florence regained hurricane status overnight and strengthened. The hurricane will be moving over very favorable conditions today and tomorrow and there’s little reason to think it will not become a major hurricane.

the National Hurricane Center (NHC) shows its 5 day forecast above. Don’t just focus on the center of the storm. The right side of where Florence hits will receive lots of rain, inland too.

Any remnants of Florence should’t reach our area until, wait for it, the weekend.

Flood watch issued for most of the region

The remnants of Gordon will be moving into our area later tonight and will pose a flood watch for our area.

..FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY
EVENING…

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of New Jersey and Pennsylvania,
including the following areas, in New Jersey,  Hunterdon,  Sussex, Warren,

* From late tonight through Monday evening

* The remnant low of Gordon will pass to the north and west of
the region late this weekend and early in the new week. With
abundant moisture out ahead of it, a prolonged period of
moderate to heavy rain will fall starting late tonight and
continuing into Monday. 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected
throughout the watch area, but there is the potential for
training of thunderstorms that could result in 5 inches or more
of rain. The grounds in southeast Pennsylvania and most of New
Jersey are quite saturated, so it will not take much for
flooding to occur.

* Excessive rainfall will lead to rapidly rising water and
flooding, particularly in urban areas and along small creeks and
streams. There is also the potential for flash flooding during
this time.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

SPC show a marginal chance of strong storms later today

Before the cooler more seasonable weather gets here we have one more day of hot humid weather. The Heat Advisory continues today along with the chance of some thundershowers later this afternoon and evening.

With the arrival of the cooler temperatures there could be some showers from time to time.

We continue to watch the tropics. Warm and humid weather does look to make a return middle of next week but not as bad as what we are experiencing now.
