An arctic cold front will cross western New Jersey later today and usher in the coldest air of the new cold season so far. High temperatures will not get out of the 30’s Friday through the weekend. It will be blustery with low wind chill readings. There’s even the possibility of a snow shower or two here and there.

The our attention turns to later in the day Sunday into Monday morning. A low pressure system will be arriving from the northwest. Depending on where it does we could have some wintry weather Sunday night into Monday morning. More details as we get closer.

Stay warm and make sure the holiday decorations are secured as we could get some wind gusts in the 30’s.

Baby it’s cold outside! Map above courtesy of NJweather.org. Tuesday morning low temperatures in western New Jersey are in the single digits. Today will feature plenty of sunshine *and* a little less wind. That should make it slightly more bearable but it will still be cold. A little more relief comes Wednesday.

Thursday is even warmer and back to above normal with high in the 40’s into the weekend.

If you stepped outside this morning in western New Jersey you know its cold outside! This is not unusual for early January – but it is unusual for us and the warmer than normal winter we had up to this point. Today and Tuesday will be the coldest part. There will be a stiff northerly breeze and could even be some snow flurries or light snow showers at times.

We will begin to recover a little on Wednesday with highs back into the seasonable 30’s. Next chance of precipitation looks to be late Friday into the weekend. Right now it looks to be mostly rain but could start off and/or end as snow.

If you don’t mind the cold, tonight might be a good night to look at the meteor shower!
