Happy Veteran’s Day everyone. Be sure to thank a veteran for their service!
Today will be the last “warm” nice day for a while. We should see filtered sunshine with high temperatures in the upper 50’s to near 60 today.
Light rain moves in tonight probably after midnight. the total amount of rain will be in the 1/4″ category. The bigger story will be the cold air rushing in behind the rain and a weak wave of low pressure that will pass by along the cold front to our south. These should combine to give western New Jersey another rain to wet snow even Tuesday morning.
The timing of the changeover looks to be right around the morning rush from 7-9 am. The roads will probably be fine. If anything accumulates it should primarily be on colder surfaces like lawns and car and rooftops. Look for a coating to no more than 1″, again on colder surfaces.
Areas to the north and the east could see a little more as the northern areas will be colder longer and eastern areas will be closer to the disturbance which could kick back some additional snow before ending.
All of this should be over around mid-day Tuesday. The temperatures begin to plummet and will fall into the 30’s and then the 20’s at night. Wednesday morning will be another potential record cold day with high temperatures struggling to get above the freezing mark! Welcome to January in November!
